“Just what annoys you?”

I have a complaint about a neighbor.  He leaves his empty garbage cans outside his house two or three days after trash pickup.  My husband can’t understand why it bothers me so.

Out of curiosity I mentioned pet peeves around the office.  I asked, “Just what annoys you?”  Did I ever find such a strange combination of answers!

Larry mentioned his neighbor. “A nice guy but does he really need to mow his lawn every other day?  Why does the neighbor’s lawn have to look so perfect?

Restaurants and food were mentioned with pet peeves several times.  When Wayne sets down at a restaurant and the people who sit down twenty minutes later gets served first …It really aggravates him.    Phyllis said “People who eat out of another person’s plate really irritate me.”  Bruce added, “It really infuriates me when a woman sitting at a restaurant table opens up her compact and applies her lipstick.”

The English language is a pet peeve for my Aunt Stella.  If you use a verb or noun wrong she is the first to correct your conversation. It can be annoying when you are telling a story.

My sister mentioned the trash in the grocery store parking lot. Obviously, the customer changed the baby and simply tossed the soiled diaper outside the car door.   It is annoying when you get out of your car and then have to step over a dirty diaper.

Elaine becomes aggravated when people smoke and flick their cigarette butts out of the car window.  And sometimes you see a pile of cigarette butts.  Obviously, people dump their ash trays out of the car door.  This is littering.  She added.  “If you smoke you can keep your butts to yourself.”

When I expressed pet peeves yesterday, more than one person spoke of unsolicited telephone calls.  Why do telemarketers call during meal time?

Talking about pet peeves over the last few days, I have found that there is a great deal of suppressed anger out there.  However; not one person mentioned empty garbage cans in the neighbor’s front yard.  I might stand alone with that one.

Thank you for the thoughts on what annoys a person. I could add a few, but I really think you covered some good ones. Keep writing. I enjoy visiting you, INDIANA GIRL.

Some neighborhoods have a conveyance that says except for trash day, garbage cans have to be out of sight.
