Harbinger of Fun !

For some towns, Memorial Day signals the start of summer and the days of fun-filled activities.  However; Greenwood takes the end of May as a harbinger of fun.  June will bring the annual Our Lady Of Greenwood Festival, drawing almost the entire town to participate.

This year is no different.  June 7^th through June 10^th will feature the carnival when it comes to town with games, rides and fun!  Its carnival has a reputation for being among the best in the Midwest.  By far, this festival appears to be one of the town’s largest activities throughout the year.

With the arrival of warmer weather and rainy days behind us, Our Lady of Greenwood Festival is quite a popular place for children of all ages.  Volunteers will be busy creating and manning game booths and serving up cold drinks along the midway.  Most importantly, it is gratifying to see all those people have a great time.

From the festival advertisements, that were posted around town they promised food, music, and fun to those who would attend the annual festival.  The festival committee announced a schedule of events sure to please festival goers of all ages.

You can throw darts, take home stuffed animals, win a framed mirrored picture of Elvis, a cake or raffle prizes just to name a few of the activities.  Too see if you’re lucky, you can toss in a ping pong ball and try to win a gold fish; preside over the street fair, or find something you need at the church white elephant booth.  The standard snow cones, corn dogs, polish sausage, tacos, and beef kabobs will be offered.  But save room for the strawberry shortcake and ice cream, it is just short of heaven!

Past festivals have been very well attended and definitely enjoyed by all who came.  This summer weekend in Greenwood turns its sights toward the yummy aromas and sounds of excitement emanating from the festival.

If you see us at the festival,  stop by and say  “Hello”  and I hope you win a prize.    Thanks just the same, but please do not give me the gold fish that you just won.
